Hope you all have a fantastic one! With lots of exciting prezzies of course!!!
What's going on in the world of Leeds skydiving
Come and see us at our socials to chat to us, ask us any questions, sign up to the club and sign up to trips, have a few drinks and hopefully come out with us afterwards. They are every wed in the Library pub, from 8.30pm. As you come in the pub turn left and we should be in that corner.
It costs £25 for the year to join the skydiving club. This gives you access to the subsidised training and jump tickets, and once you are qualified use of the three club parachute rigs. We also have altimeters, goggles and helmets that you can borrow.
Any training documents and log books received on previous trips.
A sleeping bag and pillow.
Wash bag and towel.
Warm clothes and suitable trousers to jump in (ie. tracksuit bottoms).
Trainers to jump in.
Money for food and loads of beer, on site canteen and bar.
Magazines, books, cards, games to keep you entertained. Even bring some work, but this tends to be a waste of space.
The bunk house is free but basic and camping is also free.
We will normally leave at 7pm on friday night and return on the sunday evening whenever jumping finishes, or earlier if the weather is particularily bad.
On a weekend when we are taking students down to take part in their first jump course, RAPS course, then there will be at least one committee member with them to take them to the drop zone. Show them around, ie. where they will be sleeping, the main building, canteen, bar, showers etc...
The committee member will also show them where to go to get registered for the course on the saturday morning.
The ground school will last all day, with breaks mid-morning, lunch time and afternoon tea.
Once their course is complete then everyone will arrange together what they want to do for dinner. There are various local restaurants and take-aways if no one fancies the canteen food.
On the sunday, weather permitting, these students will do their first jumps.
On weekends without any RAPS courses notices will be put on the forum so people can sign up. These names will then be split into cars to get down there.
When at the airfield there will be a committee member present who will do their best to help any new student with any questions or problems they have.
There is also range of instructors and residential staff at Langar Airfield.
We have socials every Wednesday at 8.30pm, starting at the Library Pub. As you come into the pub, turn left and we'll be in that corner. If you have any questions about the club, want to join or sign up for a skydiving course then join us there!
