BCPA Nationals 2008
The Results of the BCPA Year 07/08:

The BCPA nationals were held at Cark dropzone in Cumbria from the 9th-13th July. Despite Cark being in the middle of bloody nowhere the event was really well attended by loads of student skydivers and the dropzone was completely over-run with BCPA-ers. For once there was actually good weather at a BCPA event and as a result of this loads of jumping

In terms of skydiving there was loads of variety with almost every discipline going on including flat, freefly, canopy stuff and student progression, although the flavour of the week seemed to be hoop jumps, with almost everyone on the dropzone getting in on the action. There was enough jumping to keep the PAC busy pretty much all the time, but all this skydiving didn't detract from the BCPA's real passion- partying!

With free alcohol every night and the amazing BCPA soundsystem in place, the Cark bar was rammed every night. Combine this with all the extra toys brought in to entertain including a hot tub, bungee run, bucking bronco and bouncy castle and there was plenty of non-jumping entertainment. As usual the parties were amazing with loads of smoke, lazers, some dubious dancing and banging tunes. This all carried on well into the night with most people not heading to bed until the sun came up.

After all the jumping and partying Sunday was left to deal with the official business of prize-giving, the raffle and the AGM. The raffle had some great prizes including various bits of equipment, money off vouchers and tunnel time, and some people came away with a number of great prizes. The medals and trophies were given out (results right) and the AGM took place with the new BCPA exec being elected (again, eyes right). After that it was time for everybody to try and squeeze another couple of jumps in and then to hit the traffic jam on the M6 in an attempt to be ready for the real world on Monday morning.

Nationals was truly an awesome event with loads of long-standing BCPA members along with lots of new faces and everybody came away with some new friends and some great memories.

All that is left to be said is a massive thankyou to Cark for putting up with us and a huge thankyou to the old BCPA exec (Marc, Ed and Kath) not only for great organisation of this event but for their hard work throughout the year.
